Views of Aberdeen

From time to time I shall publish some photographs of Aberdeen. On this image, in the foreground you can see Union Terrace Gardens (the subject of some heated debates in the city right now as people discuss whether to redesign this small park). In the background is a skyline that includes the Triple Kirks, the art gallery and the old part of my own university.

The photograph was taken in early April of this year.

It seems to me that for this style of photograph the ‘when’ it was taken becomes
almost irrelevant, its hyper-realism make it so. Also there is an algid, rational quality to it due to the artificiality of the tecnique used – filters etc.- which rather interestingly contrast with a somewhat
more passionate, naturalistic ‘feel’ captured particularly in the representation of tje sky.
Not sure this makes sense as an accurate visual analisys but there you go…

Beautiful! Almost an argument for those who want the park as it is here!
