Don’t like university rankings?
Well, if you don’t like league tables, here’s one that may change your mind. It’s all good fun, but in the end with a serious purpose: to demonstrate that in the United States the rankings seem to be based almost entirely on the size of an institution’s endowment. To understand their argument, look at the page headed ‘disclaimer’.
Of course, just because the top universities in a league able are all incredibly rich doesn’t make it inaccurate; but perhaps it should prompt a debate about the concentration of money in a global higher education system. It might also remind us that our inability to fund Irish universities properly will have inevitable consequences in the rankings.
