Welcoming another blogger

The next item (below) is a post by guest blogger, Dr Kevin Denny. Kevin is a Senior Lecturer in UCD and is associated also with the Geary Institute, which (as its website explains) ‘conducts leading edge research on life course issues and the way public policy affects life outcomes.’ The institute has made a very major contribution to public analysis and to discussion in relation to topics that cover economics. Its website gives an idea of the broad social science and policy agenda that the Institute concerns itself with. In pursuing these it has gathered a fair amount of attention and respect, particularly as it has worked in and with a number of disciplines. Its contribution to Irish public life is enormous. Kevin himself is an economist, and has worked in Oxford in addition to UCD. He is a regular commentator in this blog.
